Our Story

Do what you want and don’t let anyone stand in your way. That was Evil Horse – the name of our undersized appaloosa mare with an oversized desire to never be ridden. Owned by our Brewmaster; she refused to be conquered, and riding her became a challenge that many attempted and few succeeded. For those that got bucked off, we’d drink a beer in your honor – one that we took pride in crafting ourselves.

As Evil Horse’s legend grew, so did our desire to create our own craft beer. We took inspiration from that obstinate appaloosa’s attitude – and opened Evil Horse Brewing Company, brewing the best beer possible, letting nothing stand in our way.

Evil Horse has remained unbridled and unconquered to this day, as has our passion to bring you an exceptional craft brewery experience that you can enjoy with family and friends.

Our Location

In 1911, William Seggebruch constructed this building to house his grain, flour and feed business, as well as Fred Rohe’s insurance office. The building's second floor was a large hall, which was frequently used for dances and roller skating. By 1917, Crete Theater had started showing movies in the hall. In the 1920s, Seggebruch's auto repair business and Zirzow’s barbershop also occupied the building. A large addition was built on the west side in 1940 to house K & J Bowling Alley. In 2001, the second floor was expanded over the bowling lanes as well, and a restaurant and another business opened upstairs. The first floor of this historic building was completely renovated in 2015 for Evil Horse Brewing Company, which opened its doors to the public in April 2016.
